I think you guys should be able to jump off whatever you like. The argument that a holiday maker might see what your doing and "give it a go" is absurd.

If I were to watch someone bungee jump, wait for them to pass, and then "give it a go" with a bit of bungee cord I found then people would put my death down to natural selection.

This is no different to any other extreme sport. Keep on enjoying it sensibly!

Hi Stuart, thanks for the link. I have checked out Pulpit Rock before as Portland Bill was a favourite destination of mine for rock climbing when I was a kid. On the day I got down there though it was too rough and getting back to shore after jumping would have been very tricky.

I've put a new video clip on YouTube of cliff-jumping from Pulpit Rock, Portland:-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hudt9HSnx2Q&feature=channel_page
Knowing this area all my life I feel that Pulpit is really just too hazardous - surging water and rocks proximity. However other spots around the Bill such as Red Crane, given care and good local knowledge, are much safer. I even have a short film of a piggyback jump there c1950!

Hi Fiona,
Unfortunately the tombstoning 'community' isn't very well connected, so this website only really serves the small group of my friends who tombstone on the south coast. But I have approved your comment in the hope that anyone reading these pages who may be more local to you can see it and get in touch and you can speak with them directly.
Regards,
Dan

I'm doing a report for BBC News in the Sunderland area this week. We're talking about Tombstoning and I'd really like to talk to people who do it and believe it CAN be done safely, so long as you know what you're doing. Is there anybody from the North East that can talk to us?
